Kurt, make sure your next post includes the words "proletariat" and "bourgeoise." It'll heighten the effect, I assure you.

Hell, a real way (if one was needed) to undermine the ecto effect on the economy would be for them to start dropping everywhere, and popping out of chests. Flood the market to bring down the price, not boycott.
Besides, who would boycott? I have like 9 ectos and I'm positively giddy about it. Of course, with Factions coming, I have lost interest in FoW armor waiting to see what's new and what's required for it...

This seriously made me laugh.
Well, me? I have 0 ectos myself. But I don't care about getting any or the people that hoard them. I just play the game. Ecto's definitely do not control the economy. I don't really have that much in this game because I just played it and hardly farmed at all, but I don't scream at the people who do have it all.
Vive le Frog! Vive la Tyria! Vive les ectoplasms! Vive la balance (?) de Guild Wars!

Because ectos are seriosuly superweapons of mass economical destruction. Listen, if you don't like the fact that you have no ectos, that's fine. Me, I have only seen ecto drop once, and it wasn't even for me. But can I buy things without ecto? Yup. Am I being oppressed? Nope. Are the horders detracting from my entertainment in game? Nope.
Seriously, hoarders do not really throw their money around to make the economy biased towards them. It's a large, global economy. The little guys matter too!
You know, I've been frequenting these forums silently because there is much less stupidity here than the OGaming forums lately....but this takes the cake!

Hehe, this thread is absolutely hilarious...all this talk about the average player being oppressed, as far as I knew, all players could easily craft perfect weapons and easily afford nearly perfect mods...so this leads us to "who actually use ectos as currency"? Well, the rich players do, they want to buy absolutely perfect, rare skinned weapons because many people just simply enjoy owning rare, perfect items...so what, where is the harm to the average player, unless of course you are implying that everyone should have 15% always req 7 crystalline swords. The funny thing is this, these rare highly priced items are at such prices because there are buyers for them...no other reason, they are rare and more people want them then how many are available. I believe that farming 1000k is not very difficult to most people if that is what you choose to do, then, those people want to buy perfect items...so what, go craft your perfect 15%^50 axe, add on a fortitude +28 grip and 10/8 sundering haft and be happy...if not start farming like there is no tommorow and save up for that sexy rare skinned weapon

hehe too much man- his logic is opposite of what happens at the materials merchant.. if you sell ectos to him he has more in supply and the price goes down =]

In his defense, I do think that some items are extremely over priced. The average player usually cant afford some of the item prices without the help of a friend or guild mate, or hours of farming.
I dont however think that boycotting the high priced items (like ectos) would do very much. As it stands right now, I would guess (and this is just a guess) that 8 out of 10 people in any district up to droknars forge probably cant buy more than 1 ecto, if at all (assuming the price is reasonable). It might even be safe to say that 2-3 out of those 10 probably dont even know what an ecto is. If people cant buy the items, then they cant boycott them.
While I dont like the high prices of ectos, the fact is that the price is controlled by the players. If people want to spend all their time in the game farming for a few ectos, and get away with selling them for what they want then they should be allowed to continue (this does not go for groups or individuals that sell them for out of game currency).

Whether intentional or not, there's just something about the way this is being posted that makes it flame-worthy, as indicated by the few flame posts that were here prior to deletion... Intentional or not, this is a kind of trolling/flamebaiting.
We have threads on the economy, on botters, even an article about companies that farm to sell in-game items and money for real life cash.
Thus, this thread is closed. Pick another place to wage this battle, but if you do... I highly suggest using better word choice if you want to do anything other than be ridiculed and flamed, followed by moderation of that as well.
